British historical TV series to film in Croatia, extras wanted

ZAGREB, 2 April 2026 – Croatia is set to host the filming of a new British historical television series, with casting now underway for a large number of extras.

The production, set in the late 19th century, will be filmed during May and June in several Croatian cities, including Zagreb, Rijeka and Pula.

Croatian casting agency MP Casting has issued a public call for men and women aged between 18 and 80 to take part as extras in the upcoming production.

The announcement included an image from the 1998 television adaptation of the novel Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens, the author’s final completed novel.

While it has not yet been confirmed whether the new series will be a fresh adaptation of the Dickens classic, the choice of image has sparked speculation that the production could be linked to the Victorian-era story.

Who can apply

The production is looking for a wide range of extras to portray characters typical of late 19th-century society.

Roles include members of high society, guests at elegant dinner parties, local residents and restaurant visitors. The large age range means both younger and older applicants are encouraged to apply.

As the series is set in a historical period, applicants must have a natural appearance. This includes natural hair colour and simple hairstyles, with no visible tattoos or piercings.

The requirement is designed to ensure authenticity for the period costumes and on-screen setting.

Applications are being accepted exclusively by email rather than through an in-person casting.

Interested candidates must send their application to the agency with the following information: Full name, phone number and place of residence.

Applicants must also include recent photographs of their face and full body, along with key details such as height, weight, clothing size and shoe size.

Due to the creation of historical costumes, applicants are also asked to provide accurate body measurements, including chest, waist and hip circumference.

Those selected by the director will be contacted by the casting agency with further details regarding filming schedules and roles. See post below.
