A great day for Croatian Judo in Abu Dhabi…

Brigita Matić (19) has become the World Champion in the U-78kg division. Matić now adds the world gold to her European silver which previously won.

Matić had a very difficult draw in Abu Dhabi at the World Champs, but after wins against Japanese and Dutch opponents, she earned herself a place in the semi-final against Hölterhoff from Germany. The Croatian teenager was too good and set up a final with Slovenian junior champion Apotekar. The final was a repeat of the European Junior final, but this time it was Matić who won gold.
