Boy (14) Explains On Government’s Facebook Why he Is Ashamed To Live In Croatia And Gets 10,000 “Likes”

“Listen to this scene. Me and my friend Patrik went into a bakery today to buy a pizza before school. I go in and I see an 80-year-old granny begging inside. She is not begging for money but for Food, Food! How are you not sorry, how??!? It broke my heart. She wanted a little bread roll that cost 2.35 kuns (0.30 euro), I brought her 3. I am 14-years-old and I am ashamed to live in Croatia!” wrote 14-year-old Fran Sarajlija on the Croatian government’s official Facebook page.

By Saturday the comment had already received more than 10,000 likes, with another 500 commenting on his comment. The comment even prompted the government to personally reply to Fran’s comment.

“This government has been in power for 10 months, Fran, we know how the situation is and we are working on it, it doesn’t change overnight. It is hard to solve problems that have been piling up for years and not been sorted out. What is needed now is patience, and results will come,” replied the government.
