Borna Ćorić Wins ATP Star of Tomorrow Award

Croatia181Croatian teenage tennis sensation Borna Ćorić, who beat former world number one Rafael Nadal last month at the Swiss Indoors, has won the ATP ‘Star of Tomorrow’ award…

Ćorić (17) was rewarded for his string of victories over top ranked players this season, which saw him in October be ranked inside the Top 100 in the world. At 92 in the world, the Zagreb-born teen is now the youngest player on the ATP Top-100 ranking list.

Other Croats to win ATP awards include Goran Prpić in 1989 for ‘comeback of the year’, Goran Ivanišević in 2011 for ‘most improved player’, and Ivan Ljubičić in 2007 for the ‘biggest humanitarian’.

“It is an unbelievable feeling to win this award. Just looking at the list of previous winners is enough to realise how big it is,” said Borna.

Previous winners include Nadal himself, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Marat Safin and Patrick Rafter.
