Big interest in Croatian app helping people with dyslexia

ZAGREB, March 27 (Hina) – OmoLab, a company that has designed the OmoReader application to help persons with reading disorders, is the eighth company in Croatia to seek funds for business development at the Funderbeam platform, and the initial interest of potential investors has reached 135,000 euros before the launch of the campaign.

The leading investor in the OmoLab campaign, Ratko Knezevic, said during a presentation at the Zagreb Stock Exchange (ZSE) on Wednesday that the company had been estimated at EUR 2 million, whereas the campaign would likely bring about 150,000 euros, with the expected maximum amount being EUR 240,000. Funderbeam, which is a platform for funding and trading, connects companies with capital.

“Interest is significant,” Knezevic said.

Over 60% of the funds raised during the campaign will be used for sales and marketing, and the rest for the staff and the development of ongoing processes.

OmoLab founder and director Petar Reic said today the application facilitated efforts of dyslexic persons to read.

The application breaks down words into smaller segments and highlights them with the aim of making reading easier.

In July, the application will enter the Anglophone market.

Reic said that the rate of dyslexia also depended on languages. For instance, 10% of speakers of Slavic languages (including Croatian) face that problem, whereas one in five persons (20%) in Anglophone countries have this reading disorder.
