Ajax, thanks to Lyon’s exit last night at the semi-final stage of the Champions League, has automatically qualified now for the group stages of the 2020/2021 Champions League.

Bayern Munich’s victory has also affected Dinamo Zagreb as it means the Croatian champions will now be one of the seeds throughout the rest of the qualifying draw and thus avoiding stronger opponents.

Last night Dinamo Zagreb also learned who their opponents in the second qualifying round of the Champions League will be. Dinamo Zagreb will face Romanian club CFR Cluj after they beat Floriana (Malta) 2-0.

Dinamo will travel to Romania for the match which will be played on Wednesday, 26 August. If Dinamo fails to win the tie, they will join the third qualifying round of the Europa League.

Cluj will be no easy-beats and they are a side stacked full of players from abroad, including Brazil, Colombia, France, Portugal, and Poland.

Fellow Croatian club Lokomotiva, who is making its debut in Champions League qualifying, will play Rapid Vienna on 26 August.
