Australian-Croatian becomes latest member of Croatian Air Force “Wings of Storm” display team

5 March 2019 – Australian-Croatian Marko Novković has become the latest member of the renowned Croatian Air Force and Air Defence aerobatic display team “Wings of Storm” on Tuesday. 

Novković, who holds the rank of First Lieutenant, will fly in the number 6 position on the outer right side and is the youngest member of the team, the Croatian Ministry of Defence said. 

First Lieutenant Novković was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1989. He graduated as an aeronautical engineer in 2013 and has around 600 flight hours under his belt. He now lives in Zadar. 

“Love towards the homeland was crucial in returning from Australia to Croatia, and this is a big day for me since I became a member of the Croatian aviation team. It is an honour to fly in the brilliant “Wings of Storm” team and I will be ready to take on this new challenge and do my utmost to justify this trust and contribute to new “Wings of Storm” success”, Novkovic said.

“Wings of Storm” display team was founded on 5 August 2005 on the 10th anniversary of Operation Storm. The team has completed 135 performances in Croatia and 52 abroad.

First Lieutenant Novkovic successfully completed his flight training in a Eskadrile 93 plane at the military air base in Zemunik, where the training programme for military pilots for “Wings of the Storm” is held.
