SYDNEY, 6 January 2020 – Croatia has made it two wins from two matches at the inaugural $21 million ATP Cup which is taking place in Australia.

Croatia opened their Group E match against Austria at the Ken Rosewall Arena in Sydney on Saturday with a 3-0 victory and on Monday maintained their unbeaten record with a 2-1 win over Poland.

Croatia’s number two Marin Cilic opened up first on court against Poland’s number two Kacper Zuk and won a hard-fought contest in two sets, 7-6, 6-4.

Poland levelled the tie 1-1 in the second singles match when an impressive Hubert Hurkacz beat Borna Coric comfortably, 6-2, 6-2.

Ivan Dodig and Nikola Mektic then would give Croatia the match when they won the doubles rubber in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1 over Hurkacz and Łukasz Kubot.

Croatia, who are now top of Group E, will play Argentina on 8 January in their final group match. The winner from each group will be joined by the two best second places in the quarterfinals of the tournament for three knock-out rounds until a champion team is crowned.
