The mother of the late legendary Croatian basketball player Dražen Petrović got a surprise when she made a routine visit to her son’s grave yesterday…

Biserka Petrović turned up to the Mirogoj cemetery on Monday for one of her regular visits to her son’s grave only to discover somebody had left a pile of medals without any message.

On closer inspection the medals left by the anonymous fan were from basketball tournament wins in Croatia and Italy.\

“It has happened before that somebody has left a medal on his grave, but usually there was always a message with it. This time there was a big pile. I took them, cleaned them and took them to the Museum (Dražen Petrović Museum). There were 16,” Biserka told daily 24sata, adding that she would love the person who left them to come forward.

The medals will go on display at the Dražen Petrović Museum-Memorial Centre in Zagreb along with other items left at his grave.
