Americans Celebrate Independence Day in Zagreb

A huge Croatian and American flag has been draped from the building of the US Embassy in Zagreb as Independence Day is marked on the 4th of July.

The US Embassy in the Croatian capital held an Independence Day celebration at its headquarters in Buzin last night which was attended by a number of guests.

“The Fourth of July has been recognized as Independence Day in the United States ever since the country’s Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. To mark the occasion, Americans celebrate with parades, fireworks, concerts and other festive activities,” the US Embassy said.

The Fourth of July California Dreamin’ Party, hosted by Ambassador W. Robert Kohorst, was attended by a number of guests from the American community in Croatia as well as by the Croatian president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic.

The evening ended with a fireworks display.
