Advent in Zagreb starts this weekend in the Croatian capital and once again good news for public transport users.

The City of Zagreb announced its plans for the Advent period in the capital this week and confirmed that all city buses and trams will be free during weekends.

From 1 December, all Zagreb Electric Tram (ZET) trams and buses will be free for passengers travelling in the 1st tariff zone. No tickets will be required from Friday 12 pm until Sunday at midnight every weekend until advent closes on 6 January 2019.

“Zagreb for the last three years in a row has won the title of best European Advent destination. A diverse and rich programme of events will attract a large number of guests to Zagreb this year, and ZET already traditionally participates in the rich Advent programme in Zagreb.

To ensure a true winter fairytale experience, every weekend during Advent in Zagreb, from 1 December until Sunday, 6 January 2019, ZET will transport passengers for free.

Public transport on trams and buses will be free of charge in the 1. tariff zone from Friday 12 noon until midnight on Sunday,” ZET said in a statement.
