Actor Edward Norton to take part at Ponta Lopud Film Festival in Croatia

Edward Norton, an American actor and filmmaker known for his roles in Fight Club and American History X, will be participating in the third Ponta Lopud Film Festival in Croatia.

The festival will take place on the island of Lopud, near Dubrovnik, from 20-26 June 2023.

As part of the festival’s program, Norton will give lectures and workshops to emerging talent from the region. He will provide a main masterclass to all participants before conducting further sessions focusing solely on the eight actors.

“Edward Norton is one of the most respected actors of his generation. He has starred in over 50 films, produced 13, written 5 and directed 2. He has been nominated for three Academy Awards (for Primal Fear, American History X & Birdman), 3 Screen Actors Guild Awards, 2 BAFTAs, 2 Golden Globes and has won a Golden Globe, an Emmy, an Obie and many other awards for his performances and productions. His leading masterclass will be attended by all participants of the Ponta Lopud Festival, whereas in the subsequent days, he will be working only with participants in the “Acting” category,” festival organisers said.

Additionally, Ula Pontikos, a Polish cinematographer who has worked on films such as Film Stars Don’t Die In Liverpool and season two of Netflix’s Russian Doll, will mentor three cinematography participants, all of whom are women, in line with Ponta Lopud’s commitment to gender equality in the industry.

The festival has selected 19 participants for the 2023 event, including talented directors and actors from the region. The festival aims to support filmmakers through connections with major international talents, and has previously welcomed Frances McDormand and Joel Coen.
