A1 Hrvatska investing €11m in new data centre in Zagreb

ZAGREB, Oct 13 (Hina) – A1 Hrvatska, a member of A1 Telekom Austria Group, said on Tuesday it had started building a state-of-the-art data centre in Zagreb this autumn, and this investment, worth €11 million, is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2021.

This provider of digital services and communication solutions said that the new data centre would comply with the Tier III certification from the UpTime Institute, a standard-bearer for digital infrastructure performance.

The senior technology director of this second-largest telecom operator in Croatia, Tomislav Makar, said that the circumstances caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the 22 March earthquake that hit Zagreb accelerated the digitisation of local companies and led to an increased demand for cloud solutions.

The future centre is designed to stand earthquakes of up to 9 on the Richter scale.
