PLOVDIV, 31 May 2025 – In their first major competition in a new rowing discipline, Croatia’s celebrated Sinković brothers, Martin and Valent, have added another impressive chapter to their storied careers.
Teaming up with Anton and Patrik Lončarić, the Croatian crew clinched silver in the men’s coxless four at the European Rowing Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
The newly formed quartet delivered a strong performance, leading the field for much of the race before ultimately crossing the line in second place with a time of 5:49.78. They finished just behind Romania, who claimed gold with 5:48.27, while France took bronze in 5:52.18.
“It was a good race, an improvement from the heats where Romania had a larger lead over us,” said Valent Sinković after the final. “I’m slightly disappointed we didn’t take gold, but we’re progressing day by day. There’s still a lot of work to do to catch up to Romania—and everyone else.”
His brother Martin Sinković echoed the sentiment, expressing optimism about the future: “We definitely haven’t lost our fire after the Olympics. We’ve made a lot of progress, but with more training time together as a four, we might have won gold today. Still, we’ll leave that goal for the World Championships. We’re ready to work even harder.”
This result marks a historic milestone for the Sinković brothers, as it is their fourth different rowing discipline in which they have medalled at a major international competition. They previously secured podium finishes in the quadruple sculls, double sculls, and coxless pair.
