8 Places to Eat Great Ćevapčići in Zagreb

Ćevapčići – the best way to experience the Balkans. This well-known grilled dish is unavoidable while travelling around this part of Europe, but you never know what you’ll get. Simple, but not as simple as it seems. Every chef has his own secret. Here are only some of the places in Zagreb to try great ćevapi.

One of the spots to try the best of the best is a well-known Bistro MZ in Ravnice and Mitnica on the west side of the city, Črnomerec. Oriented on a national cuisine, this restaurant is always on the top of the lists for the best ćevapi and pljeskavice in town.

Conveniently located near the main cinema Cinestar in town, M & S is a relatively new addition in town. They are quickly developing a reputation for their ćevapi which are succulent, tasty, fresh and affordable. The chef always rests the meat and the quality is always consistent.

Savska cesta 107, a small house with a few tables and and a smaller terrace. Always full. A well-known grill offers “Leskovački voz” – a series of ćevapi, pljeskavice filled with cheese, “vješalice” and “uštipci” will sure convince you that this place is on a must visit list in Zagreb. Just be sure to reserve your place in advance.

Another top place for a great meal is located in Prečko. This spot hides its greatest charm among the leafs of a grape vine. The inside space offers a homelike atmosphere of the past. A delicious portion of ćevapi combined with kajmak, a side dish and a beer, shouldn’t cost more than 80 kuna.

A few locations in town such as Borovje and Point Center offer the best of the Bosnian cuisine. This authentic restaurant is one of the best spots for a great portion of ćevapi with kajmak. Decorated in traditional Bosnian and oriental style, the atmosphere adds up to delicious meals.

In the centre of Zagreb, near the famous Dolac market, one new place with great ćevapi has emerged! Tasteful grill specialties, ćevapi, pljeskavice and interesting hamburgers are a reason great enough to add this spot to this list. A great flavor of the soft ćevapi and a cozy inside style will sure make you come more than once!

City Club Grill has been around in Zagreb for a long time and has a name for being one of the best places in town for ćevapi. Old school ambience and old school ćevapi with quality meat cooked on charcoal. Locals call the place ‘posioner’. Fantastic ćevapi.

Again and old school ‘joint’ which is filled with smells. They serve Sarajevo and Banja Luka style of ćevapi which are fantastic. Their lepinja are well cooked and tasty. Again value for money is great.
