Many world-famous media place Dubrovnik among the best travel destinations for the year 2021. The reasons are many, from the rich historical and cultural heritage, beautiful and preserved nature, pleasant Mediterranean climate, a long tradition in hospitality and last, but not least, the stunning beaches.
Luxury Villas Dubrovnik, which specialise in providing luxury villas for holiday rent in the most attractive locations, present 7 reasons from their personal experience looking after clients for many years, why you should choose to spend your vacation in a private villa on Dubrovnik Riviera:
1. Exceptional historical and cultural heritage
Well, in general, we think it’s hard to find a person that hasn’t heard about Dubrovnik. In short, it’s a city-museum in itself. Time travel would be a perfect line to describe what happens when you enter the city gates. The exceptionally well-preserved and protected old town of Dubrovnik takes you in its own fairy-tale. As a valuable cultural heritage, the Old Town of Dubrovnik is under UNESCO protection since 1979. Its stone walls, which are 2 kilometres long, were built in the Middle Ages for defensive purposes but today their role is to give you the best view of the City. But not just that, GOT lovers will know that they served for more than just walks – being a part of the scenery for the series.
If you have enough time, you can always start exploring a bit outside of the city. We would definitely recommend Korcula Island – the birthplace of Marco Polo, Medieval walls of the city of Ston – longest wall fortification in Europe, Mostar city – where the East meets the West and Kotor Bay in Montenegro – gorgeous medieval coastal towns.
2. Pure and preserved nature
The great thing about Dubrovnik is that you don’t need to go far to find your own private nature paradise. Croatian coast is well-known for its beautiful nature, with over 1000 islands, many of which are uninhabited. If you want more than just the beach you can visit the islands in Dubrovnik vicinity. The easiest one to visit is Lokrum Island. The boat goes from the Town’s harbour many times during the day and the island is a real oasis. The whole island is a nature reserve and it has a botanical garden with more than 800 plants from all over the world. Let’s not forget to mention the view from the island back to the city is spectacular.
Another option, a bit further though, is the Elafiti Islands. The 6 islands can definitely show you the meaning of untouched nature, away from everybody else. Mljet Island, which is also a Croatian National Park is where, besides the stunningly pure nature, you can explore the Odysseus cave because the legend says that Odysseus shipwrecked on the island naming it ”the most beautiful island on all seas’’.
3. Food! Food! Food!
This section is definitely the hardest one to explain because it’s impossible to let you know what you can taste and smell in Dubrovnik. Mediterranean cuisine is known around the world as a healthy and delicious diet. But you are on vacation so forget about the healthy part. Indulge with all your senses in what the City has to offer. Do not leave Dubrovnik without tasting home-made specialties such as octopus under the baking lid, fresh oysters, home-made smoked prosciutto, cheese, local fish caught on the very day… Your taste buds will be thankful.
With great food comes even better wine. The wine tradition in Croatia is hard to describe. The wine sorts, which come from the nearby Pelješac peninsula, are known worldwide and regular winners of international wine competitions. Cheers!

4. THE climate
Who wants a vacation stuck under an umbrella or freezing. You don’t have to worry about that because Dubrovnik has over 2665 hours a year when the sun loves the city. As the weather people say, summers are moderately hot, while winters are mild and predominantly sunny. Swimming in the sea is possible from May to September, we swear on that one. Then again, you will be staying in a Dubrovnik private villa with a pool so you might not care. That is also the reason for the upcoming popularity of holidays spent in Dubrovnik luxury villas.
5. Dubrovnik – Is it safe?
So many times, we had situations when our clients asked us about safety in the City and Croatia in general. We couldn’t be happier to say that safety isn’t an issue at all. Croatia is listed among the safest countries in the world. But not just that, people of Croatia are extremely friendly and used to foreigners, and not that you will feel safe, you will feel at home.
Unfortunately, in these times, we need to address another safety issue – the COVID pandemic. We would like to emphasize that all our villas meet high safety and health standards. We offer all services in a way that we avoid all unnecessary contacts.
6. Easy way to get there
No better way to explain it – it’s easy to get to Dubrovnik. Dubrovnik Airport offers excellent connectivity with direct flights to 29 countries. Most passengers come via the UK, Germany, USA, France, Spain and the Scandinavian countries. It’s also well connected by road with Central Europe which we definitely recommend for the scenic drives along the Croatian coast. There are also ferry lines connecting Dubrovnik to Italy for those coming from Italy or continuing their vacation there.
7. Dubrovnik private holiday villas – a great offer
Dubrovnik is one of the most exclusive destinations in the Mediterranean, following the famous Venice. We are safe to say that Dubrovnik is the most luxurious destination in Croatia, which includes the vast offer of luxury accommodation. One of the best ways to spend a vacation in Dubrovnik is to rent a private villa.
You can choose between villas in different locations: in the Dubrovnik City centre, by the beach, on an island or the ones hidden in the silence of nature. Dubrovnik private holiday villas will provide privacy and relaxation. We especially emphasize the possibility of organizing private parties such as weddings, birthdays or anniversaries – if you are visiting Dubrovnik for a special reason, let us know and we will find the best option for you.
