45,000 Professionals Vote Modric Among World’s Best

There was room for just one Croatian footballer when 45,000 professional footballers selected the best players in the game.

Croatia and Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric was selected by his peers among the best 15 midfielders in the world. FIFA, in conjunction with FIFApro have compiled the best 5 goalkeepers, 20 defenders, 15 midfielders and strikers as voted for by over 45,000 professional players in the game. On 7 January the best team out of the nominations will be announced.

Along with Modric nominated for midfield selection include Andrea Pirlo, Franck Ribery, Frank Lampard, Mesut Ozil, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Eden Hazard, David Silva, Yaya Toure, Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso, Xavi Hernandez, Andreas Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas and Sergio Busquets.
