A conference about lesser known details of Tesla’s life – Tesla in Zagreb – will be held on the opening day of celebrations on 9 July, before the marking of his birthday on 10 July with an official programme which will see flowers placed on Tesla’s monument in downtown Zagreb, and a function at hotel Esplande. An awards ceremony will take place on the evening where talented students will be presented with awards, whilst young Croatian inventor Tino Herljevic will be presented with the Nikola Tesla – Genius of the Future award.
The last day is reserved for lectures and experiments at the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum in Zagreb. Tesla was born in Smiljan, Croatia on 10 July 1856 before he emigrated to the United States in 1884. He is best known for his contributions to the design of the modern alternating current electricity supply system.
