23-year-old with Croatian roots the new Miss Universe Bolivia 2022

A 23-year-old psychology student with Croatian roots will represent Bolivia at the Miss Universe 2022 pageant. 

Fernanda Pavisic will represent Bolivia in the 71st edition of Miss Universe later this year after being crowned Miss Universe Bolivia 2022 last week. 

Born and raised in the Bolivian city of Cochabamba, Fernanda claims Croatian roots on her father’s side. 

Her father, Jorge, and grandfather Roberto Pavisic were born in Bolivia but her great-grandparents, Hugo and Drina, were from the island of Brač.

Her great-great-grandfather, Nikola Pavišić Stanić, emigrated from Croatia to Bolivia around 1900.

Fernanda, who is an active member of the Croatian community in La Paz, is studying psychology at the Universidad Católica Boliviana San Pablo.

Croatia will be represented at Miss Universe 2022 by 19-year-old Arijana Podgajski. Hailing from the town of Krapina, Arijana beat 13 other finalists to be crowned Miss Universe Croatia 2022 in Zagreb in May.

Harnaaz Sandhu of India will crown her successor at the Miss Universe 2022 event later this year.
