1st World Championship in Olive Picking Set to be Held on the Island of Brač

1st World Championship in Olive Picking

Different country’s olive oil traditions will be represented at what is being billed as the 1st World Championship in Olive Picking October.

The 4-day event will be held in Postira on the island of Brač from 19 – 22 October 2017.

The events aim is to promote olive growing and everything linked to it. All countries having a tradition of producing olive oil will participate in this competition.

The participating countries will consist of four members – two women and two men, with their hand picking techniques and picking using rakes put to the test.

Besides the competition, educational workshops, lectures, tastings, tours & entertaining evenings will be organised.

Olive picking skills will be put to the test

“Visitors will be able to experience Postira, the eco-ethno village of Dol, as well as the island of Brač itself in the best possible way,” organisers say.
