17 World Champ Medalists Performing at 65th Hanžeković Memorial in Zagreb


There will be 17 medalists from the IAAF World Championships in Beijing on show at the 65th Hanžeković Memorial in Zagreb…

The athletics meet, which will be held at Mladost on Tuesday, is the penultimate IAAF World Challenge meeting of the year. Among the stars who will be performing in Zagreb include Jamaican 100m sprinter Asafa Powell, women’s high jump gold medalist from China Maria Kuchina, and fellow Russian, Sergey Shubenkov, the 110m men’s hurdles winner.

Leading women sprint hurdlers Sharika Nelvis, Tiffany Porter and Alina Talay will go head to head tonight, as to will Croatian shot put champion Sandra Perkovic with German Nadine Müller, who finished third in the China last month.

Brazil’s Fabiana Murer, another Beijing medallist, will lead the field in the women’s pole vault, whilst Beijing silver medalist Fabrice Lapierre of Australia will lead the men’s long jump field.
