ZAGREB, 10  January (Hina) – The 16th annual edition of Museum Night will take place on Friday, 29 January, in a virtual setting and partly outdoors where it is possible to organise it in compliance with epidemiological measures, and this year’s theme will be “Tasks of Museums in Times of Crisis”.

For the past 15 years, Museum Night has been characterised by mass visits to museums, with the number of visits in one night even exceeding 300,000, the organiser, the Croatian Museum Association (HMD), recalled.

Since that is not possible this year due to the pandemic and special epidemiological conditions, the events will take place online, except for exhibitions that can be held outdoors in compliance with the measures introduced by the national COVID crisis management team.

In circumstances when most cultural events are being postponed or completely moved to digital channels and after consulting with the museum community, the HMD decided to adapt Museum Night to the new circumstances.

As Museum Night has become an unmissable cultural event, for their loyal audiences the organisers of its 16th edition will try, together with the Croatian museum community, to prepare events that will primarily take place in a virtual setting, the HMD said.
