16 singers to battle it out to represent Croatia at Eurovision 2019

14 February 2019 – Sixteen acts will battle it out on Saturday night in Opatija at Dora 2019 with the winner representing the nation at Eurovision 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel. 

The Dora music festival was used to select Croatia’s Eurovision representative from 1993 until 2011 before Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT) took over the process. Dora has returned this year and 16 acts will perform on 16 February in Opatija. 

Among the candidates is Bernarda Brunović. The blind Swiss-Croatian will be representing the Croatian diaspora at Dora. Brunović hit headlines late last year after her impressive performances in the German version of the popular talent show The Voice.

Croatia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 24 times since making its debut at the 1993 contest. Croatia’s best result in the contest is fourth-place finishes in 1996 (Maja Blagdan) and 1999 (Doris Dragović). Last year, Franka Batelić represented Croatia in Lisbon, Portugal with her song ‘Crazy’. She finished in 17th place in the semi-final.
