Croatian Premium Wine Imports, Inc., (CPWI), the company importing, promoting, and retailing online over 100 indigenous Croatian wines to most US states, announced on Sunday that 14 Croatian wines received 90+ ratings from Wine Enthusiast in its June/July Buying Guide.
Wines from Dalmatia, the most southern, coastal wine region of Croatia, were the most numerous, followed by Istria and Slavonia & Danube.
Submitted still white and still red wines are in the “90-93 EXCELLENT Highly recommended” category.
“Congratulations are in order for all wineries that participated and certainly the ones that achieved the high ratings, showcasing continuous quality of Croatian winemaking in both white and red wines,” said Mirena Bagur, co-founder of Croatian Premium Wine Imports, Inc.
“Croatia is focused on its indigenous varieties, from Plavac Mali, which is a descendent of Zinfandel, to Babić, Pošip, Teran and Malvasia as well as Graševina from the northern Croatia. We are delighted that that more and more Croatian wines are being placed in American stores and restaurants, which is a direct result of not only wine quality, but also of the increased demand – as the American visitors prepare for island-hopping wine cruises or land trips which we support and encourage in discovering this gourmet destination.”
The highest rating for the Croatian wine this time went to Testament Winery, Šibenik, Dalmatia for its 2019 Testament Babić, which has been oaked for six months in used barrique barrels in a mix of American and French oak.
