11.5 Million Tourists So Far in Croatia – Growth of 8%

There were 3.9 million tourists holidaying in Croatia in August, which was 5.5% more than the same month last year, according to official statistics presented by Tourism Minister Darko Lorencin on Monday…

Whilst arrivals were up in August, so were overnight stays. There were 26.9 million overnight stays recorded in the month, which was 4.7% more than the same month last year.

Growth in all regions
There was growth in August in all Adriatic counties, as well as in Zagreb. Istria was the most popular destination with 1 million visitors (+5.1%). There were 768,000 in the Split-Dalmatia county (+6.8), 713,000 in Kvarner (+6.2%), 491,000 in Zadar County (+3.8%), 122,00 in Zagreb (+14.5%) and 354,000 in Dubrovnik-Neretva County (+5%).

Arrivals from Germany were the largest in August, followed by Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Holland and France.

From January until the end of August there have been 11,518,000 tourists in Croatia, creating 66 million overnight stays, which is 8% and 6.5% respectively more than the same period last year. In all of 2014 there were 12.9 million tourists in Croatia and that looks like it will passed this year as a busy September is also forecast.
