Zagreb Technical Museum to Change Name to Nikola Tesla Museum

teslaThe Zagreb Technical Museum is to change its name..

The museum will now be named after famous Croatian-born inventor and scientist Nikola Tesla, the museum’s director Markita Franulić told the press this week in Zagreb.

The Zagreb Technical Museum, which has over 150,000 visitors annually, opened 60 years ago and the change of name is to honour and promote the works of Tesla, who was born on 10 July 1856 in the village of Smiljan in Croatia’s Lika region.

The Nikola Tesla Museum will feature a theme park dedicated to renewable energy, and a number of new programmes related to the inventor.

“Like all great people, Tesla was modest and was misunderstood, so he departed for America but he never gave up or forgot his homeland,” Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandić said.

On the occasion of the 159th anniversary of Tesla’s birth, several events have been organised from July 9 – 11 titled; “Tesla & friends,” the Nikola Tesla Association – Genius for the future to mark the Nikola Tesla Days.
