Zagreb Nominated for Best European Destination in 2015

Croatia’s capital Zagreb has won a nomination for the ‘Best European Destination for 2015’ by renowned travel website European Best Destinations…
Zagreb, which was second in the same competition last year, joins another 11 candidates to be named the Best European Destination for 2015. The winner will be announced after public online voting is complete, which will run from 20 January – 10 February. The contest, which carries significant weight as it is one decided by tourists, is organised by non-profit organisation, European Best Destinations headquartered in Brussels, whose goal is to promote culture and tourism in Europe.
A marketing study carried out by independent agency “Cision” showed that Porto, the city voted the best European destination in 2014, benefited greatly from the award. The marketing value of the award, which provided last year’s winner with media coverage on the European level, was estimated at ten million euros. It is not only the winning destination that benefits however, with all the top ten also able use the European best destination logo to improve their recognizability.
