World Taekwondo Grand Prix Gold for Croatia in Mexico

27-year-old Lucija Zaninović, who won bronze at the London Olympics in 2012, has won gold at the Grand Prix Final in Queretaro in the U-49kg category. The victory gives Lucija an important 80 qualifying points for the 2016 Olympics in Rio, as well as 6,000 USD cash. Lucija beat the 2013 World Champion Chanatip Sonkham in the semi-final in Mexico, before she beat 4-time World and European Champ Brigitte Yague from Spain in the final.

It has been an amazing 2014 for the Split-born fighter as she become the 3-time European champion in her division. (HTS)
