Water Levels Subsiding in Devastated Flood Region

CroatiaSava river water levels near one of the worst hit flood areas in Slavonia have subsided by more than 2 two and a half metres on Monday…

Water levels in the Sava have dropped from 11.68 metres on 17 May, to 9.11 metres today near Zupanja, an area that was devastated by flooding which resulted in over 1,000 people losing their homes. Emergency services have still closed off some villages in eastern Slavonia to the public because of fear of disease, and expect those evacuated to be without their homes to at least after the summer. Volunteers and firemen are still arriving in the worst hit areas to help with the clean up, which is being made easier due to the subsiding water levels, which are reportedly dropping one centimetre on average every hour.
