VIDEO:Emotions Run High At Turina’s Charity Match

Emotions were high for Dinamo Zagreb and AIK football players when they played a charity match for Croatian goalkeeper Ivan Turina who tragically died in his sleep earlier this month aged 32.

Turina’s former team-mates played the friendly in Stockholm to honour the former Dinamo Zagreb and AIK stopper and raise money for his widowed wife and kids.

“This will be my symbol for the memory of Ivan Turina. I will wear the number 27 jersey till the end of my career,” said Dinamo Zagreb’s Jerko Leko. Turina wore the number 27 and last night’s match, which Dinamo Zagreb won 1-0, was played over two 27 minute halves.
“He was my best friend. It was very hard to play this match, but it is a nice gesture from his club. We wanted to show our respects, we know why we were here. He deserved that,” added Leko before the match which was played in front of 8,000 fans.
