[VIDEO] Island of Murter – Living & Tradition

Croatia

The island of Murter in the northwest part of the Šibenik archipelago is separated from the mainland by a 20m wide sea canal at Tisno which is spanned by a short draw-bridge. The town of Jezera is located on the southeastern coast…

In this Touristar TV video we visit the island of Murter and learn how the fishing net is made. Netting is an old profession in Croatia and not a very common one. In Jezera only one “barba” (word for the older local man) makes them. We also get an introduction to the “konoba” (tavern). Every “konoba” has their own story and is packed with tradition and different local liqueurs. It’s a place for gathering and hanging out with friends. Murter is also distinctive by its church – the church with seven altars, The Lady of Health.
