The Croatian football team and management have taken time out from their preparations for Friday’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Italy to visit the Maestral Children’s Home in Split on Wednesday…
The 40-odd kids at the home were excited to see their idols, who took time to hang out and take photos with them. The team also presented the kids with some gifts (hats, shirts and signed posters).
“You do not know what a big thing you have done for our family. This home has 127 kids in 8 programmes from Dubrovnik to Karlovac. These are some of your biggest and most faithful fans and we will go in large numbers to the game in Split against Bulgaria. We wish you luck against Italy,” the home’s director Miljenko Grabar told the team.
Croatia coach Niko Kovač then thanked Grabar for all that the home was doing.
“All of us who are parents and have kids know how important it is to have parents. You are the ones doing a big thing and thank you for the chance to come to your blessed place. I am glad that we are here at the kids disposal,” said Kovač.
