Klapa music is a form of traditional a cappella singing from the Dalmatia region in Croatia.

The word klapa, meaning ‘a group of friends’, traces its roots to littoral church singing. In 2012 klapa was inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list.

It is not only in Croatia however that it is popular, and is even being taught to school kids 20,000 miles away in New Zealand.

Check out the boys from Mt Albert Grammar Boys school in Auckland, New Zealand and their amazing rendition of ‘Vilo moja’.

This video was posted by Klapa Samoana, who are a klapa group of Samoans from New Zealand.
