[VIDEO] Award-Winning ‘Dancing With Maria’ Coming to Croatian Cinemas

1Italian-Argentinian-Slovenian documentary film Dancing With Maria, which is about the works of famous Argentinian dancer, choreographer and dance pedagogue María Fux, is coming to Croatian cinemas…

The film will be announced with a series of dance events and flashmobs in Croatian cities (Varaždin, Rijeka, Zagreb and Pula). A big surprise is awaiting passers-by this Saturday at noon in front of Cinema Europa in Zagreb.

Audiences in Zagreb will have a chance to see the film at Cinema Europa (Varšavska 3) from 28 to 31 March. Subtitled Tuesdays, a new programme, will screen Dancing With Maria at Cinema Europa on 31 March with both English and Croatian subtitles. The film will also be screened at Dokukino KIC from 9 to 19 April and on 29 April at Art-kino Grič.

Maria’s dance method is based on the perception of inner rhythms and the symbiosis with music. In her studio in the centre of Buenos Aires 90-year-old Maria welcomes dancers from all walks of life, including women and men with physical and mental impairments, and arranges integrated dance groups. Maria Fux is now dealing with one last student, possibly the most difficult one: herself. We all have limits that we can acknowledge and finally overcome. The film is directed by Ivan Gergolet and it won an award at last year’s Venice Film Festival in the Critic’s Week programme.
