Victim Support Line Inaugurated In Croatia

Victims of crimes in Croatia can now call a toll-free number and get help from trained volunteers thanks to a cooperation between the Croatian Justice Ministry, the Supreme Court and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The victim support national call centre (116-006) service will have both Croatian and English speaking operators and will be opened from 8am-8pm Monday-Friday. Croatia’s Justice Minister Orsat Miljenic said at the call centre’s inauguration that the helpline showed that Croatia was showing a trend of putting victims and their rights first. The number, 116-006, is a standardised helpline number used throughout the EU and Croatia joins Austria, Denmark, Germany. Ireland and the Netherlands as EU members who are using it.
