It has been a record start to the 2017 tourist season in Croatia – by quite some distance.

In June 2017 2.6 million tourists visited Croatia, which is 31% more than in June 2016, which was a record-breaking year for Croatian tourism, data from e-Visitor revealed.

Those 2.6 million tourists who visited in June this year created 13.6 million overnight stays, a key measure in the industry. Overnights were up 34% on last June.

The first weekend in July has seen the crowds continue to enter. There were long queues, up to 14 km long in some cases, at border crossings on Saturday, whilst Split was set to see a season-record 90,000 passengers pass through its airport this weekend.
