TNT Explosive Attack Thwarted Ahead Of EU Celebrations In Zagreb

Croatian police arrested a Cuban-born Croatian national heading towards Zagreb just before EU entry celebrations begun in the capital on Sunday, carrying 200 grams of the explosive TNT in his car, reports daily Jutarnji list.

The 45-year-old  former Croatian bodybuilding champion was travelling from Zagorje to Zagreb with 2 friends when police stopped his vehicle at 17:50 near Zabok (Krapina-Zagorje County) and made the discovery. He was arrested and taken into custody where he will remain for 30 days.

It was also reported that police also found a bag on a bus arriving from Bosnia and Herzegovina with 12 automatic weapons inside. Croatia’s Minister of Internal Affairs would not disclose details of the arrests, but said that the incidents were serious and praised the actions of the police who managed to defuse the situation in time as celebrations went ahead without any security breach on Sunday evening.
