Tax Inspectors Crack Down on Popular Cheese & Honey Sellers Along Croatia’s Motorway

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAnyone driving along the A-1 motorway towards Croatia’s coast would have noticed the local domestic cheese and honey sellers out of the back of a van or on a table, well now it seems after all these years of the tradition the tax man has noticed them too…

According to a report by daily Jutarnji list, inspectors have now turned their attentions to those small-time sellers who are tourist favourites in search of domestic produce as they drive to and from the coast. Seven infringement notices were handed out to those selling ‘under the table’, and 194.5 kilos of cheese, 16.45 kilos of honey and 3.2 kilos of mushrooms was confiscated, as inspectors carried out controls at resting stops along the popular A-1.

The move is the latest step in the crackdown on tax evaders from the government over the past 18 months. (pic: lika-online)
