Stimac To Name Halilovic In Squad To Face Scotland

Croatian football coach Igor Stimac has indicated that he will name Dinamo Zagreb wonderkid Alen Halilovic in his side to face Scotland in a World Cup qualifier early next month in Zagreb.

With regular squad members Luka Modric, Vedran Corluka and Dejan Lovren not available for the 7 June match due to suspension, the door has opened up for the 16-year-old midfielder who has caught the attention already of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

“It is definite, Halilovic will be named in the side, unless he gets injured,” said Stimac. Halilovic, who has been tagged as the ‘Croatian Messi’, is currently playing for the Croatian U-17 side in the Euros in Slovakia. Stimac names his side on 23 May with the squad travelling to Medjugorje to prepare from the match.
