Slovenia Ratifies Croatia’s EU Accession

Croatia and Slovenia have kissed and made up after the Slovenian parliament unanimously voted in favour of ratifying Croatia’s European Union accession on Tuesday.

A 20-year banking dispute and territory arguments have been resolved as Slovenia became the 23rd member state to ratify Croatia’s accession. It is now just a formality that Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Denmark will also shortly ratify the accession, making Croatia the 28th member of the EU.

Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic, who was in Ljubljana on Tuesday, says that the ratification is the start of a new beginning.
“This is a new chapter in our relations,” said Milanovic.
