Russians Invest in Croatian Island Bay

CroatiaWealthy Russian investors have signed a contract with the Croatian government on Friday to build a luxury hotel and villas on the Dalmatian island of Murter…

The project at Jazina bay near Tisno is reportedly worth 105 million euros, and is expected to create over 350 jobs in the next five years.

“It will be the first major economic project in the last 30 years on the island of Murter. It will do wonders and will triple Tisno’s town budget,” Ivan Klarin from the ruling political party (SDP) told Nova TV.

“Any new job created in a small town is a success for that town,” local Drago told reporters.

The Tisno investment is the first in what the government hopes will be many major investment projects next year.

“In 2015 we expect a better investment boom than we had in 2014, and more new jobs created,” said Economy Minister Ivan Vrdoljak.
