Riot Police On Hand As Croatia-Serbia Tickets Sell Out In Hours

Thousands of Croatian football fans were left disappointed yesterday when tickets for the Croatia – Serbia World Cup qualifier to be played on 22 March at Zagreb’s Maksimir stadium sold out within hours of going on sale.

Dozens of police in riot uniform gathered in formation outside ticket outlet Tisak Media in Zagreb when news that tickets had sold out was broken to hundreds of fans still in ques.

Angry fans who missed out on tickets then turned to social media and the Facebook profile of the Croatian football federation to vent their frustration, prompting current coach Igor Stimac to address them.

“I would love that we had a stadium that could accommodate all of you, but unfortunately we dont…I will give tickets to the match to anyone who can pour 2 litres into a 1 litre bottle, said Stimac.
