Polish National Rescued From Deserted Croatian Islet

The Croatian Mountain Rescue Service team have rescued a 55-year-old Polish national on Tuesday from the deserted St Marks islet just off the island of Krk in the northern Adriatic.

Earlier in the day the Polish tourist swam to the small islet, but because of strong winds and sea currents he was unable to swim back to shore. The Rijeka rescue service team received a call for help at 2am this morning after screams from the man were heard coming from the islet. At 5am this morning the man was rescued by boat and taken to the mainland.
