Police Arrest Group Selling Off Property They Don’t Own

Police officers from the organised crime unit of the Zadar Police Department have charged a 32-year-old Zagreb man and nine of his accomplices for forging documents and selling off land that does not belong to them in the Dalmatian region of Zadar and also the Zagreb area.

“The Zagreb man is suspected of forging a power of attorney for a 65-year-old land owner in Zagreb. He is accused of then hiring his accomplices from Zagreb and Zadar and attempting to sell the man’s land which is worth hundreds of thousands of euros,” said a police statement.

Earlier this year the 32-year-old man also used a counterfeit power of attorney to sell land on the island of Vir which was owned by a 73-year-old Zadar man, reported daily newspaper Slobodna Dalmacija.
