Petra Martic’s Dream Run Ends in Tokyo

Croatia’s number 1. women’s tennis player Petra Martic has had her dream run at the WTA tournament in Tokyo cut short by Russian Nadia Petrova last night.

After recording the biggest win of her career in the 2nd round against former world number 2. Petra Kvitova, Martic lost a marathon three-set match against the more fancied Petrova.

The world number 18. came out victorious after three hours and ten minutes to win 7-6(2), 6-7(1), 6-4, in what was the first match between the pair.
