No Return to Croatia for Red Bull Air Race World Championship in 2015

Red-BullLast April Croatia played host for the very first time to the world’s fastest motorsport series – the Red Bull Air Race World Championship – but it seems there will be no return in 2015…

More than 80,000 fans descended on the picturesque town of Rovinj on the northern Adriatic coast last April to watch the high adrenalin air spectacle, with both pilots and organisers praising organisers for a fantastic weekend. Despite that Croatia will miss out next year on hosting the event with news that three new venues – Japan, Russia and Hungary – have been added to the calendar to go along with the five regular series hosts – Las Vegas, Fort Worth, Abu Dhabi, Ascot and Spielberg.

The news is sure to upset Croatia’s Tourism Minister, who had this to say after last year’s event.

“This event is of exceptional importance not only for Istria but also for the whole of Croatia. This is one of the best examples how to create motives for attracting tourists to come in Croatia before and after the peak season,” said Minister Darko Lorencin.
