Luka Modrić Becomes 7th Croat to Lift European Super Cup

CroatiaCroatian midfielder Luka Modrić became the seventh Croat in history to lift the European Super Cup after a Cristiano Ronaldo brace helped Real Madrid to a 2-0 victory over Sevilla in the final in Cardiff last night…

Last night’s win means that Modrić joins Croatians Zvonimir Boban, Igor Bišćan, Dario Šimić, Ivica Križanac, Mario Mandžukić, and coach Tomislav Ivić to lift the European Super Cup, which pits the current Champions League winners against the holders of the Europa League at the start of each season. After a solid performance, Modrić was replaced in the 86th minute by coach Carlo Ancelotti. (pic: twitter)
