Last Day of August Sees Records Smashed at Airports

Dubrovnik airport has enjoyed a bumper summer season. On the last day of August 104 flights took off and landed at the southern Dalmatian airport, capping off what has been the best month in the airports history.

“We have had a record month with 320,000 passengers, which is 7% more than in August last year,” Dubrovnik airports Miho Zglav told RTL, adding that the airport looks set to pass 1,580,000 passengers for the year.

Dubrovnik airport was not the only ones smashing records. Both of the main airports in Split and the capital Zagreb have enjoyed some impressive growth. Split airport was up 11% in the first 8 months of the year with 1,330,000 passengers.

“We expect to finish August with 392,000 passengers through, which is around 13% more than in the same period last year,” Mate Melvan from Split airport said.

Zagreb, which has one of the stars of the tourist season, has seen an increase in traffic at its airport of 10% from last year.
