Kiwi-Croat Makes Cover of Rolling Stone Magazine

CroatiaWeekKiwi-Croatian singing sensation Ella Yelich-O’Connor (17), better known as Lorde, has made the cover of famous music magazine Rolling Stone

Believed to be the first Rolling Stone cover with a Croatian connection since Nirvana’s Krist Novoselić graced it back in the 1990’s, Lorde is interviewed in the music ‘bible’ ahead of the Grammy Music Awards, where the teenager has been nominated for four awards.

Yelich-O’Connor, who has Croatian roots on her mother’s side, has enjoyed a remarkable rise to fame this year thanks to her smash hit ‘Royals’, which carries a message criticizing the materialism of the pop music scene, and spent nine weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart this year. Ella will find out on 26 January if she can pick up a prestigious Grammy award. Lorde talks about her rise to fame and her heritage below.
