A number of new businesses are starting to pop up in the Croatian capital Zagreb. One of those is Jedem doma (I’m eating at home)…

Young entrepreneur Željka Maras has launched a business which takes the daily hassle out of grocery shopping and cooking. Jedem doma provides a personalised ‘homemade’ cooking service for those who live dynamic, fast-paced lives and have no time to go to the markets or cook but still want to enjoy a homemade meal at night.

The process is very simple – once customers select which meal they would like, Jedem doma will head off to Zagreb’s Dolac markets to pick up the ingredients and then in the home of the customer prepare the meal. If the customer already have some of the ingredients at home then they will not purchase them from the markets. After serving it they will then clean up after themselves before leaving.

Jedem doma offers 5 different services.

*Jedem doma (I’m eating at home) – which takes care of all cooking requirements during the working week
*Napokon vikend (Finally the weekend) – Weekend (Sat/Sun) cooking service
*Imamo goste (We have guests) – preparing food for when guests are arriving
*Sretan rođendan (Happy birthday) – sweet and salty bites for birthdays
*Jedem u uredu (I eat in the office) – preparing meals at a business premise.

Maras says that the Jedem doma option is the most popular option and that the majority of customers are couples with kids. The cooks, which there are currently 2 now, must have knowledge about Croatian cuisine, love cooking and be up to date with new trends in the kitchen. They also must be personable and polite as they are entering into people’s homes.

In Zagreb there is nothing similar at the moment and Jedem doma is planning to expand to other cities in Croatia and employ more people, Maras told Poslovni dnevnik.
